You Rally, You Learn

It is a momentous celebration for the Philippine National Heroes’ Day this 2013.

Thanks to the whistle blowing, Filipinos are currently outraged with the “pork barrel” issue (and where our taxes go—> to the money hungry and greedy politicians and their ghost projects). Netizens started a movement to march up to Luneta and rally against the baboy fund. The target is a million Pinoys, but the people who showed up in Luneta were the struggling middle class, not enough to reach a million. There were no class CDE present so the number did not reach a million. Instead, the English speaking 90’s boomers and hip 20’s showed up in arms ‘coz they want to be counted. No work, so instead of lazing around the house or mall, they strolled along Luneta. Never mind the mud and little drizzle, at least they showed up and got a little Nationalistic for a while.

Valleybikes showed up, together with a lot of other bike groups to show disgust in the present system of how we spend our tax money. Bikers gathered in the Katipunan monument wherein Bonifacio is in full glory together with a lot of other Katipuneros. As we hanged back, I went to the back of the monument and saw a big wall, and written there was the “KARTILYA ng KATIPUNAN”. It is a good read, and it got me thinking… Filipinos are often repressed but if we follow the correct way (tuwid na daan), we always succeed in the end. The Katipuneros succeeded in their plight, so can we just let their guidelines be our guidelines? Maybe we can all have a better life, the Katipunero way.

I believe if we follow these “Katipunan shizznitz” we shall be heroes in our own little way.
