Upgrade-dithaitis– (noun) a disorder of bicycle riders to constantly upgrade their bikes resulting to financial drawbacks. This psychological sickness can be prevented by following this remedy:
1. STOP and imagine your dream bike. This way you can have goals for your bikelove. This is relative to the rider on what he wants to achieve for his ride. Research and download images from the internet, set your sights on your ultimate bike and then save it so you can “picture” your goal.
2. Give in to the urge and reach your goal. This way, you have a steady plan for your bike and then you upgrade. There will be no more unnecessary spending on useless things (food, date, movies, vices, etc.) because you have set your target for that dream bike.
3. Be contented. Once you have reached your goal, be happy. Steady does it and just maintain… Regularly visit the mechanic for maintenance (greasing of hubs, cleaning the chain and bike TLC) and to change tires/brake pads once the rubber runs out. If you stopped purchasing unnecessary parts, then you are cured!
