July 20 was declared as International Ride MTB Day by Fox Racing. Thus, they created activities around the planet for folks to ride their Mountain Bike on that day!!!! All Day!
For Metro Manila dwellers, the gathering was at the Bike Playground in Circulo Verde, Pasig. Mountain Bikers, young and old went to the Bike Playground to witness the fun and camaraderie that the MTB brings.
MTB fun day
Everything was aligned for July 20, 2019 and God granted Mountain bikers a great weather for biking. Last year got postponed and moved but this year’s event breezed through quite smoothly. The event happened in the Bike Playground at Circulo Verde which was located in the heart of the city. The place had an indoor pump track and an outdoor trail with berms and switchbacks meant for fourcross.
There was even a tent with lots of goodies and mountain bike parts. Of course they sold Fox Racing products at a ridiculously low price, so Fox fans were ecstatic about it. Helmets, gloves, jerseys, hoodies and shorts were all there, being pushed at a sale price one couldn’t resist.
Shimano showcased their latest XT and XTR drivetrain with 50 and 51 teeth cogs. Too bad the dealer had no units to sell, it was simply for display purposes only.
Queen Ariana Sighting.
The MTB Queen made an appearance with her team and Coach/Dad. They were training for their race in Lebanon, which will be the qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It was such a glory to watch them train, and being a witness to a future Olympian. The Bike Playground is truly a good training ground for our Olympic MTBer bet, Ariana. Goodluck Team Pilipinas!
The kids competed in the Strider race which also happened last July 20. The parents and kids were interesting to watch for one could feel the tension and fun the race brought. The kids were all smiles and they were adorable racing with each other using the push bike. These children really made Fred Flinstone proud!
Pump Track, Yo!
The most awaited competition of the day was the pump track challenge. There was quite a number of competitors so the contest was intense. The riders were divided into age brackets and the best hucker is the one with the fastest time around the track. You can feel the camaraderie and friendship in the atmosphere due to the cheers and praises from the crowd.
All in all, the Fox Ride MTB was a success. It could have been in the mountain— for it said, “mountain bike”, right? But the Bike Playground substituted the whole environment and the vibe was excellently laid back and very biker friendly. It was odd that it was held in Pasig, in the middle of the Metro, but because there were tracks in the venue, everything compensated and balanced out.
See you guys on the next #RideMTBday. Cheers!
