Better Than Walking

Biking is indeed better than walking.

We live in extraordinary times. First quarter of the year 2020 is such a curious time in history. With the spread of the infectious Coronavirus / Covid-19, the whole Luzon is in Enhanced Community Quarantine. Here in Metro Manila, public transportation is suspended. If you do not own a car, you would have to walk if you have to go somewhere. People who need to go to work like the frontliners and skeletal work force walk two to three hours a day (depends on how far they live from where they work). Extraordinary times call for real life heroes.

Better Than Walking

A Facebook page called https://www.facebook.com/groups/lifecyclesph/ united bikers with frontliners who need a bike to go to work. Eventually, bikers invited other bikers and the community got busy. A lender posts his/her bike for borrowing and borrowers would PM (private message) the lender. The structure is quite simple; it is just helping others.

Helping Our Heroes

Modern day heroes don’t wear capes. They help others and they are brave. That’s what they are. Sadly, they don’t fly. Also, not all of them have vehicles. Some walk really far just to be a hero, so Life Cycles PH connected bikers with these heroes.

You know how in the movies, the sidekick sometimes help the hero by flipping the switch or throwing him the lightsaber or something like that? Lend your bicycle to that hero, ensure yourself by teaching him/her how to properly lock it IF you want to become that memorable sidekick. It feels good to spread love and do service.

If you want to lend your spare working bike, the Life Cycle PH community Facebook page is the most apt platform to do so. You can also lend your bike to a neighbor/ friend/ acquaintance who needs a ride… because in these extraordinary times, we need extra ordinary actions.

Cheers to the men and women behind the Life Cycles PH community. Mabuhay kayo!
